Drift Yonder Dental Studio

Steady hands.
Plain answers.

A small practice built around longer appointments. We look properly, tell you what we found in ordinary words, and write the plan down before anything begins.

  • Thursday evenings

The last Thursday appointment starts at 7:40pm, so you do not have to take the afternoon off.

  • Same-week check-ups

We work a short cancellation list every morning and offer those slots out the same day.

  • Forty-minute first visits

Long enough to take a full look, talk through options and answer the questions you arrived with.

A bright dental treatment room with a reclining chair beside a wide window

Two quiet rooms

Both surgeries face the courtyard, so the loudest thing in the room is usually the conversation.

A dentist in protective eyewear examining a seated patient under a treatment light

One clinician, start to finish

Whoever examines you carries out the treatment, so nothing is handed over halfway through a plan.

Sterilised dental instruments laid out in order on a clean tray

Trays set in the open

Instruments are unwrapped in front of you and the sterilisation log is on the wall if you want to read it.

How it goes

What a first visit looks like

No surprises, in order. If you have been putting this off, this is the part people usually want to read first.

  • 01 Talk before anything else

We sit and go through what has been bothering you, what you have had done before, and anything that made a past appointment difficult. Nothing goes near your mouth during this part.

  • 02 A proper look

A full examination of teeth, gums, bite and the soft tissue, with small x-rays only where they would change the plan. You can ask us to stop and explain at any point.

  • 03 Findings in ordinary words

We show you what we found on screen and describe it without the shorthand. Where there is a choice between treating now and watching something, we say so plainly.

  • 04 A written plan, then time to think

You leave with the plan and the itemised cost in writing. Booking the next step is up to you, and the quote stands for ninety days.

What we do

Treatments

General and restorative dentistry for adults and children. Anything outside this list, we will tell you who to see rather than attempt it.

  • Check-ups & hygiene

Examination, scale and polish, and practical cleaning advice aimed at the two or three spots you actually keep missing.

Good for  routine care, bleeding gums, staining
  • White fillings

Tooth-coloured composite repairs, shade-matched in daylight and polished in the same appointment.

Good for  new decay, chips, replacing old metal fillings
  • Crowns & onlays

For teeth too broken down for a filling. We keep as much of the natural tooth as the shape allows and fit a temporary while the lab works.

Good for  cracked teeth, large old restorations, post-root-canal
  • Root canal treatment

Usually two unhurried visits rather than one long one. Numbing is checked twice before we start and again if you signal.

Good for  persistent ache, abscess, deep infection
  • Clear aligners

Mild to moderate crowding corrected with removable trays, reviewed every six weeks. We will say honestly if a case needs a specialist instead.

Good for  crowded front teeth, relapse after childhood braces
  • Extractions & wisdom teeth

Straightforward removals here, with aftercare written out and a check-in appointment already booked before you leave.

Good for  unrestorable teeth, repeated wisdom tooth flare-ups

If you are dreading it

You keep control of the appointment

Plenty of people arrive having avoided a dentist for years. That is common enough that we have built the appointment around it rather than treating it as an exception.

  • A raised hand stops everything, including mid-procedure.
  • Numbing is done slowly, warmed, and tested before we begin.
  • Nervous-patient slots are booked longer and placed early in the day.
  • You can come in just to look at the room and meet us, with no examination.
  • Headphones, a blanket and breaks between stages are there if you want them.
  • Nothing is sold to you in the chair. Decisions happen afterwards, in writing.
No one gets talked into anything here. You leave with a plan on paper and as long as you need to think about it. Mara Vance, principal dentist

Money, up front

What it costs

Example fees so you can judge before you book. Your written plan confirms the exact total, and we will not start work that is not on it.

Includes the examination, any x-rays taken on the day and your written findings. Hygiene appointments are quoted separately.

  • Studio plan

Two examinations and two hygiene visits a year, spread monthly, plus a reduction on restorative treatment. Cancel with a month's notice.

  • Treatment quotes

Questions

The things new patients ask us most often, answered properly rather than briefly.

  • Do I need records from my last dentist?
No. It helps if you can remember roughly when you last had x-rays, because that affects whether we take new ones on the day, but we can register you and examine you without any paperwork from elsewhere.
  • What if I have not been to a dentist in years?
Then the first visit is mostly looking and talking. We will not run through a list of everything that could be done. We prioritise anything causing pain or at risk of getting worse, and the rest goes on a plan you can work through at your own pace.
  • Something hurts now. How soon can I be seen?
Ask for one of the held-back morning slots. If they have gone, we will tell you honestly what is left that day rather than booking you into next week, and we will give you advice for managing it until you are in the chair.
  • How long does a first appointment take?
Forty minutes. That covers the conversation, the examination, any x-rays and going through the findings. If treatment is needed it is booked separately, so you are never kept longer than you planned for.
  • Can I bring someone in with me?
Yes, into the room and for the whole appointment if you want. Plenty of people find it easier to take in the explanation with someone else listening too.
  • Do you see children?
From around three years old. Early visits are short, usually a ride in the chair, a count of the teeth and nothing more. We book children before school where we can, when they are freshest.
  • Can treatment be split into stages?
Usually, and we will say which parts are genuinely urgent and which can wait without getting worse. Staged plans are priced stage by stage so you can stop and restart without losing the quote.

Tell us when suits you

Send this and we will reply with two or three times that fit, including evening or Saturday options where they are free. If you are in pain, say so in the notes and we will look at the same-day list first.

New and returning patients both use this form. There is nothing to pay to register.

We use what you send here to offer appointment times and nothing else.
